Where your photos go
Everywhere your school publishes a photo.
School website
Class pages, galleries and news posts — exactly the photos the May 2026 advice was about.

The weekly round-up parents actually read, with real smiles back in it.
Social media
Facebook, Instagram and X posts from the office, without a consent spreadsheet open beside you.
Prospectus and open days
Marketing photos that show a busy, happy school — without using any real child's face to sell it.
Why schools are taking photos down
In May 2026 the National Crime Agency, the Internet Watch Foundation and the Early Warning Working Group told schools to remove identifiable photos of pupils from their websites and social media. Images of children taken from school sites were being turned into AI-generated abuse images and used to blackmail them.
The advice is sound, but it leaves schools with a problem: parents want to see sports day, governors want a website that shows the school at its best, and the office has no time to retouch every image. Our guide Can schools post photos of children? sets out what the law and the safeguarding guidance actually say.
A new face, not a blurred one
Blurring, emoji stickers and backs of heads all hide the child — and the moment with them. Hair, uniform and build still give children away to anyone who knows them. Safeguard replaces each face you tap with a newly generated one: same approximate age, same expression, complexion matched to the child's own neck and hands. The uniform, the hall and everyone you didn't tap stay exactly as they were.
It still looks like your school on the day it happened. It just isn't anyone's child, so it can't be traced back to one.
Pupils without photo consent
Every class has a few. Rather than cropping them out or leaving the photo unused, tap just those pupils and post the rest as normal. If you need a consent form to go home in the first place, our free school photo consent form covers websites, social media and anonymised images.
For your DSL and DPO
Photos are anonymised by our AI provider under a data processing agreement, never used to train AI, and deleted automatically 48 hours after upload — or after 7 days if you choose to keep them longer. Paid accounts can export an audit log of what was changed. We can send a DPA and DPIA notes on request.
What it costs
Every account starts with 2 free photos, no card needed (free photos are watermarked). After that, buy a pack when you need it: 50 photos for £19, 200 for £49 or 500 for £99. Nothing renews, photos never expire, and you're never charged for a photo with no faces or one that fails. See pricing for the details — trusts buying for several schools can email us for an invoice.
